Tamil Nadu Multi Stakeholder Initiative (TAMSI)
Tamil Nadu Multi Stakeholder Initiative (TAMSI), formerly known as the Multi-Stakeholder Initiative-Tamil Nadu, was founded in 2014 to foster collaboration in the state’s garment and textile industries. It brings together suppliers, NGOs, trade unions, and government bodies to promote ethical, fair, and sustainable labor practices. TAMSI primarily focuses on addressing Gender-Based Harassment and Violence (GBHV) in textile hubs and workers’ home districts, aiming to create safe, inclusive, and equitable workplaces and communities.
The initiative envisions a future where Tamil Nadu’s textile sector is recognized for its commitment to gender equality and worker well-being. Its key focus areas include ensuring

Tirupur People’s Forum (TPF)
Tirupur People’s Forum (TPF) for Environment and Labour Rights is a network of civil society organizations since 2006. TPF actively works to improve labour rights and environmental sustainability as a pioneer in addressing challenges within the textile supply chain. Currently, it has 39 member organizations across 18 districts of Tamil Nadu, dedicated to supporting workers, women, children, marginalized communities, and climate resilience.
The forum primarily focuses on unorganized workers in Tamil Nadu’s textile, garment and allied sectors. TPF strives to secure the rights and entitlements of its target groups, ensuring better working and living conditions to safeguard the welfare of its target group through collective action and policy promotion by addressing systemic labour and environmental issues, the network plays a crucial role in fostering equitable and fair workplaces and sustainable development.

Campaign Against Camp Coolie System (CACCS)
The Campaign Against Camp Coolie System (CACCS) is a state-level network comprising NGOs, academics, and individuals dedicated to labor rights, child protection, women’s empowerment, and rural development. Established in 2012, CACCS was founded to unify and strengthen the efforts of various NGOs in Tamil Nadu working to eliminate child labor and protect textile industry workers from exploitation.
The network serves as a collaborative platform, bringing together organizations committed to promoting labor rights and ensuring worker welfare. It consists of a general body with 40 members representing diverse NGOs, all working towards creating fair and just labour conditions. By fostering collective action, CACCS seeks to address systemic labour issues and advocate for sustainable change in Tamil Nadu’s textile sector, ultimately improving the lives of vulnerable workers and children.

Migrant Workers Rights Coalition
The Migrant Workers Rights Coalition(MWRC) is a collective of NGOs and worker movements engaged at both state and national levels to address issues affecting migrant workers in Tamil Nadu. The coalition advocates for the rights and welfare of both interstate migrants working in Tamil Nadu and Non-Resident Tamils living abroad.
Its focus includes policy reforms, social protection, and improving working conditions for international Tamil migrants by influencing state-level policies and programs. Additionally, the coalition works to address the challenges faced by interstate migrant workers, advocating for policy changes to ensure their rights, fair treatment, and access to essential services. Through collaborative efforts, the coalition seeks to create a more just and inclusive system for all migrant workers, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions recognized.
