Mrs. M. Renida Sarala

Board Member
Mrs. M. Renida Sarala is a seasoned social worker, serving as the Managing Trustee & Director of Women’s Organisation in Rural Development (WORD) in Namakkal District, Tamil Nadu. With over 30 years of experience, she has led numerous initiatives focused on eliminating child and bonded labour, combating forced labour systems, and advocating for women’s socio-cultural and economic empowerment.
Her work also addresses human rights, health awareness, and environmental sustainability through community-driven collectives. Combining grassroots mobilization with policy advocacy, Mrs. Sarala has created significant transformative impacts in rural areas. She has contributed to various government committees and NGO networks and has led relief and rehabilitation efforts during disasters, including the recent Covid-19 pandemic.
Her expertise spans health, education, environment, and development. Through WORD and in collaboration with domestic and international partners, she continues to lead impactful projects, advocating for the rights of women and children while promoting self-reliance and dignity within communities.

Mr. P. Ruba Balan

Founding Member
With a background in Engineering and an MBA, he serves as the Chairman of PEACE Trust and is a founding member of the Tamil Nadu Alliance and the Migrant Workers Rights Coalition. A visionary leader, he is committed to promoting sustainable development and social justice.
He plays a key advisory role as a Standing Committee Member (CSO) in NITI Aayog, India’s leading policy think tank. Additionally, he is a member of the District Child Protection Committee and a consultative member of the UN ECOSOC.
His advocacy extends internationally as a Steering Committee member of CARAM ASIA, a network based in Kuala Lumpur dedicated to the promotion and protection of migrant labor rights across Asia and the Middle East. Through his leadership and policy engagements, he continues to champion the rights of vulnerable workers and marginalized communities, striving for equitable labor conditions and social welfare reforms.

Dr. P. Bala Murugan

Founding Member
Dr. P. Bala Murugan holds a Ph.D. in Social Work and a Master’s in Law with a specialization in Labour Laws. With over 30 years of experience, he has worked with local voluntary agencies, government bodies, and international organizations, including Save the Children, UNICEF, Geneva Global, Freedom Fund, and the British Asian Trust.
His expertise lies in enhancing coordination between government entities and stakeholders to create a protective environment for children. Dr. Bala Murugan has worked with both adults and children on child protection, workers’ rights, and livelihoods, developing tailored processes and monitoring impacts. He excels in financial management, overseeing operational budgets and regular adjustments. A skilled trainer, he has led capacity-building programs for partners, government departments, NGOs, police, and communities.
He played a key role in forming the Tamil Nadu Alliance and serves on the Steering Committee of the India Working Group Against Trafficking.

Mr. M A Britto

Founding Member
M.A. Britto is the Executive Director of Vaan Muhil Trust, an NGO based in Tirunelveli, South Tamil Nadu. With 30 years of experience in the development sector, he holds Bachelor’s degrees in Law and Philosophy and a Master’s in English Literature.
He has co-authored two books on Social Analysis in Tamil and translated a book on Adivasis. His research on the implementation of the SC/ST (PoA) Act in southern Tamil Nadu led to a published report in Tamil. For the past five years, he has been organizing workers’ collectives among unorganized laborers in Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Virudhunagar districts.
Britto has also initiated a Constitutional Rights Education Program for children, developing three modules in Tamil and English. Under this initiative, 200 Constitutional Rights Education Clubs have been established across Tamil Nadu, benefiting nearly 5,000 children and fostering awareness of constitutional rights and social justice.

Mr. S.M.Prithiviraj

Co-Convener & Financial Trustee
S.M. Prithiviraj is a social entrepreneur and policy advisor with 36 years of experience (as of January 2025). Sociologist with M. Phil and diploma in permaculture from California, USA (2002), he is a writer, speaker, social worker, trainer, researcher, and policy promoter in socio-economic and environment spheres.
He has conducted 55 research studies on labour, social, education, environment and developed environment atlas for 14 river sub-basins in Tamil Nadu. His onsite and policy work led to formation of Tamil Nadu Fisher Welfare Board in 2007, now over 450,000 members.
Prithiviraj has implemented 10 development projects on child labour, female labour, rehabilitation, ecology, and rejuvenation of natural resources. He has mentored 12 NGOs, built curriculum on gender, labour, human resource and responsible business practices. Currently, he works for decent work, migrants and climate resilience, facilitating Tirupur People’s Forum and co-convening the Tamil Nadu Alliance.

Mr. A. Aloysius

Convener & Managing Trustee
Mr. A. Aloysius, Founder of SAVE and Convener of TAMSI and the Tamil Nadu Alliance, is a committed advocate for labor rights and social justice. Holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature and Philosophy, along with a Diploma in Library Science, he has also completed various certifications in leadership, management, communication, human rights, and International Labour Organisation (ILO) standards.
In 1993, he founded SAVE, marking the beginning of his transformative work in Tamil Nadu. His vision led to the creation of the Labour Resource Centre (LRC), addressing labor rights violations in Tirupur’s garment and textile industry. A staunch advocate against child labor, he played a key role in India’s adoption of ILO Convention 182.
Mr. Aloysius has led several major initiatives, including the Global March Against Child Labour, the Child Rights Forum, and the Clean Clothes Campaign Task Force. He also convened the Tirupur People’s Forum (TPF) and TAMSI, promoting ethical labor practices and migrant worker rights across Tamil Nadu.
